Asaan Museum to Showcase 57,000 Saudi Cultural Artefacts in Historic Diriyah

Asaan Museum showcases 57,000 Saudi artefacts

Saudi Arabia’s Misk Heritage Museum, known as Asaan, has signed a 30-year partnership with Art of Heritage—an initiative affiliated with the Al-Nahda Society—to preserve and exhibit an extensive collection of rare cultural artefacts.

Set to open in the coming years in Diriyah, one of the Kingdom’s most historically significant sites, Asaan will feature over 57,000 ethnographic objects. These include 3,000 pieces of jewellery, more than 3,000 traditional garments, 40,000 photographs, historical daily tools, over 1,000 books and manuscripts, as well as audio and video recordings, old maps, and camel howdahs.

Before being put on display, the entire collection will be digitised to ensure its preservation and accessibility, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The museum will also integrate the collection into educational programs, artisan product development, and community outreach initiatives—fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Saudi heritage.

Asaan is envisioned as an immersive cultural experience, offering interactive exhibits that explore the Kingdom’s rich traditions, daily life, and diverse identity. The museum aims to inspire visitors and future generations to connect with Saudi Arabia’s heritage in meaningful ways.

This partnership strengthens Asaan’s mission to present authentic cultural narratives and underscores Diriyah’s growing status as a centre for cultural and historical discovery.
