ASBC/F supports largest Saudi health delegation to Australia

Over the past month, the Australia–Saudi Business Council & Forum (ASBC/F) had the privilege of supporting the largest-ever Saudi health delegation to Australia, led by His Excellency Fahad AlJalajel, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The official visit took place 15–21 August 2025 across Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, advancing bilateral cooperation in healthcare, research and innovation.

Who was involved

The delegation brought together senior representatives from across the Kingdom’s health ecosystem, including the Health Holding Company, National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO) and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. They engaged with leading Australian stakeholders including St John Ambulance Victoria, eClinic Victoria, Monash University, CSL, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and UNSW, exploring opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. It was also encouraging to see Australian companies already active in the Kingdom—Cochlear, among others—participating in discussions and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s ongoing health sector transformation. (As referenced in ASBC/F and media coverage of the visit.)

ASBC/F Roundtable and strategic agreements

As part of the visit, ASBC/F proudly hosted a high-level Roundtable in Sydney for H.E. the Minister of Health, bringing together senior leaders from government, industry and academia to deepen dialogue and identify new partnership avenues. The program also witnessed the signing of several strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Saudi and Australian stakeholders—reinforcing cooperation in healthcare delivery, research, clinical innovation and procurement.

Outcome highlight: Agreements announced during the visit focus on integrated healthcare solutions and clinical research—supporting Saudi Arabia’s Health Sector Transformation Program (Vision 2030) while creating new pathways for Australian expertise and investment.

A collaborative national effort

 

This milestone visit was enabled by the close collaboration of Australian and Saudi partners. ASBC/F acknowledges the support of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Government Department of Health, Aged Care and Sport (formerly Health, Disability and Ageing), Investment NSW, and Global Victoria, whose efforts ensured a high-impact program across three states.
